Jetman 4 and 5, a decent little character arc for Kaori. I wasn't a huge fan of her, but she's noble and, while quick in her judgment (Being one to make her decisions "In the moment"), does the right thing in the end. I liked that it established her overall inexperience not just in combat, but in piloting too, stating that she just doesn't like machines. After storming off, this statement rings true in just how traditional a vibe her house gives off. Very old fashioned.

It was also a nice take on the arranged marriage episode so many Sentai do, having her and her fiance already been engaged since childhood. No mother/grandmother running around looking for suitors, no forcing one of her teammates to act like her boyfriend, or any of the sort. It didn't change my opinion on those types of episodes, but I'm glad it had a little variation.

I also really enjoyed how the episode ended, falling on a cliffhanger of her unconscious in the Jet Swan after taking a hit and nearly crash landing. It was effective in not rushing her story. The first part being her learning her role and choosing the Jetmen over the money, and the second being her ineptitude in piloting. It was nice that solving the first problem didn't make her an ace pilot, and the episode didn't wrap up cleanly.

Episode 5 had her legs physically weakened through her own mental blocks over the shock of what happened. It was nice and helped expand on her relationship with both Ryu and Gai. I liked seeing her overcome her mental block in the middle of a crisis and save Ryu.
Then she could spontaneously pilot the Jet Swan perfectly...Huh...

Oh well.
Jet Icarus gives me a Time Jet Gamma vibe, which is nice.

Something else that struck me as they heroes were being attacked by 3 different villains is their hesitance to transform. It strikes me as odd that, in a situation where Gai is being shot at (And later shown to be injured because of it), he refuses to transform to fight back. Additionally, the rangers are more prone to rushing the enemy head on in their civilian form rather than transforming. For a series like Jetman, which doesn't even have a transformation sequence, it's strange that, most of the time, they wait until they're all together before they transform...
