He's not antagonistic, he's just unlikable. Being needlessly cruel and rude to other characters that everyone seems to respond with "Oh, it's just tough love!"

Actually it's been a pretty big part all along, Decade has spent these first seven episodes learning that he doesn't just have to destroy - he can also help and save, while Yusuke acts like an emotional anchor to keep him grounded and balanced. It's a really nice relationship, where one grows through the other.
