I've seen someone on tumblr compare the characters from Gaim and Fate/Zero and I think it's kind of spot on. Especially Kirei and Micchy.

Kota and Saber: The idealistic, if a bit naive warriors in for a rude awakening that the world is cruel and they will have to adapt to survive.
Micchy and Kirei: Initially devoid of no real motivation outside of “I will follow”, they evolve into something evil and worse: greedy for what they want, and ONLY they want.

Takatora and Kiritsugu: Initially appearing as cold and unfeeling, revelations show that both are good men at heart, just that their methods are a bit extreme. Also are both famed in-story as being powerful fighters that should not be underestimated.

Kaito and Gilgamesh: Incredibly self-absorbed? Check. Cruel and cynical? Check. Fights for the strongest side? Checkitty check. Believes that the weak should kneel before the strong? DING DING DING WE HAVE THE SAME CHARACTER. Also, Ea and the Banaspear…far too similar in design.

Oren and Rider: Well, aside from Oren having the whole Gladiator motif with his Durian arms and Iskander being well, ALEXANDER THE GREAT, they’re both wild card blood knights with less of an interest in the greater prize (for Oren, originally the Invess Game and for Iskander, the Grail), and merely are in it for the fight and convincing the other fighters to their ideas (Oren’s “fighting isn’t for children” and Iskanders “Join me and I will let you rule under me with the grail!”). Also consider their relationship with Hideyasu and Waver…
