Considering the amount of time he's spent in Helheim and that the speculation about the Genesis Driver's shortcomings are true, he was likely keeping his old Banana Arms primed because he a) didn't know how long he'd be out in the forest, and b) didn't want to be caught off-guard by any Inves or Riders. There isn't a lot of downtime between switching Drivers for him, so he could easily slip into Lemon Energy whenever he decided it was necessary, then revert right back to Banana afterward.

Kaito maybe be straightforward, but he's not stupid.

Has it ever explained that the more powerful the drivers are, the more taxing it can be on the person? Like Mitchy was incredibly exhausted after being Zangetsu Shin the first time during Baron & Gaim and the second time, getting his ass kicked by Deemushu and Gaim.

I know Kenzaki was exhausted every time he used Blade King.

I mean I wouldn't understand why Gaim would stay in Orange Arms when Jinba forms are supposedly just as fast as Ichigo Arms and we also have Jinba Cherry that can move at fast speeds.
