Ahhh, the original, undeniably one of my favorite movies.

The first time that comes to mind is that for such an old film it looks so good, the practical effects are incredible, the dark atmosphere hides any imperfection in the suit and as whole it shows how much care it went unto it.

The cast is surprisingly likeable, Serizawa is of course the most memorable one, but everybody has a clear personality and role in the film.

The message is strong, and it's overall a very touching movie, the attacks on tokyo, the hospital scenes and the ending are genuinely touching and the soundtrack delivers it perfectly.

It's simply a magnificent film.
