Have to agree that Ford was a pretty lousy character overall. Watanabe gave a great performance so it was disappointing to see Serizawa had quite a limited role.

Happy to see that they absolutely NAILED the King himself. I loved the bulky, dominant predator look and that moment where the spines glowed and he shot the atomic breath was definitely the highlight, as was that glorious finisher. Sucked that he wasn't in it all that much but what we did get was just perfect.

The Mutos were a pretty rocking design too, they looked like Gyaos on crack. Come to think of it, the whole Godzilla/Mutos thing gave me serious Gamera: Guardian of the Universe vibes.

Overall I enjoyed it a lot, but I think the fact Pacific Rim is still fresh in my mind means I'm perhaps not as wowed as I could have been. Will be going to see it again next week so we'll see how it fares second time around.

Not just that, but I'm pretty sure the case even had Mothra on a card next to it.
