It's just that things can go wrong very fast when you least expect it too and is it stated that Kamen Riders have to keep the helmet on as a general rule unless it's a exception like the G guys from Agito?

There's doing cool things and having them go well......and then there are accidents that could have been avoided with some foresight.

They're probably less safe than not wearing a helmet. None of the stunts they do are any more dangerous than stunts unhelmetted individuals do. The helmets offer less visibility, are probably harder to breathe in, and are hotter no doubt. The helmets deffinitely don't function to offer any protection, being so small and-form fitting.

A helmetless fight would be safer. Plus, the stunts they do in suit are downright tame compared to most stuff. Kouta's backflip into jinba was easily the most "dangerous" stunt ever pulled in Gaim. You realise that most of these fights are just swiping and sparks. Or shooting VFX that don't actually exist. What do you expect them to do in an unhelmetted fight?
