It might not be 100% awful, but it certainly isn't good by any means. All of the Genesis levels for Classic Sonic are copied right from the original source and a lot of the newly designed levels are incredibly bland and disjointed, especially radical highway. It just drives home the fact that dimps simply doesn't know how to make levels that don't have homing attack chains, bottomless pits in some vain attempt at creating challenge, or multiple springs/boosts to reach areas as opposed to well done physics for Sonic's own momentum.

I will however give them credit for Classic Sonic's control and even his momentum isn't bad, possibly even better than the console version. However that doesn't do much when the levels are just so boring and the designs do not allow you take full advantage of these positives.

I then asked my dad to buy the real game, and I got it and played it with joy.
And that has been my favorite sonic game of all time.

I really love Sonic, but it is such a shame that the games have gotten bad in my opinion in the years... well generations is a exception

The first one, actually. I had a Genesis with Altered Beast, Golden Axe and of course Sonic. Strangely I would never have any of the others until much later. Certainly missed out back then, but it just meant I would make memories at another time.
