I can understand that. The build up to it was definitely better than when it actually happened. That said, there had to be some breaking point that finally pushed him over the edge, and I feel that Yuka's death was probably the strongest thing they could have gone with to act as such. His initial reaction was also quite believable, completely overtaken with emotion, seeking out revenge and for the first time in a long time attacking humans to vent his anger and frustration. It was what followed that, how quickly he just sorta accepted it and became the major villain that was a bit poorly executed, that was very Anakin in RotS I think.

Finished episode 49. Not a ton to say about it, the episode as a whole wasn't particularly strong.

Kitazaki's death was unfortunate. He was amongst my favorite villains this season simply for his mannerisms and he was just an interesting character. I also wish that he had had either a more meaningful death or at least a more memorable one. Hell, even despite my hatred for Kusaka I almost wish at least he had had the opportunity to get his revenge against him because at least then Kitazaki's death would have been something beyond food for the King.

And again, I really am not feeling the King plot.

The only real noteworthy things about this episode were the scene where Takumi tells Mari and Keitaro about Kusaka's death and some of the revelations to/between characters.

I also feel like this is a good time to talk a bit about someone that has become a surprising favorite from the cast for me. Kaido. I wasn't really sure what to think about him when we were first introduced to him early in the show. Hell, I didn't even know if he was going to be a permanent addition to the cast or not. He had a really strong story early on, passing his musical legacy on, that was really well done. The love rectangle with him, Mari, Yuka, and Keitaro was done better than I'd have expected, and his antics with Keitaro were quite fun, and I really enjoyed their friendship. And his arc with Terou has done a lot to mature him and was again handled pretty well. Definitely going to be interested with how that goes given what we know.

Probably more I can say, but I only have one episode left so I shall hold off until after then.

Time to open my eyes for the final Faiz.
