No it didn't. Wizard had Shunpei. And as much as I did not care for Keitaro in 555, he was a likable character. Shunpei was just annoying with no redeemable features except for the one time he dressed like a girl. Shunpei made a better girl than he did a guy.

Wizard did not have any variation in its structure. You could predict how every episode was going to go down after the first several. 555 kept changing things up, even if they did not always work. Nevertheless, there was a variation of dynamics going on. Oh, and Mari actually did stuff compared to "I'm going to quietly sit in the background for the next 25 episodes" Kiyomi. Kiyomi had maybe about 5 episodes worth of development whereas Mari had about 20.
