Let's see what I have decided to check this season!
Aldnoah.Zero:
It's an Urobuchi show, it has mechs, if you are in this thread you know what it is.
So far Aldnoah comes across as an excellently crafted mech show (good animation, great soundtrack, nice pacing) but at the same time it has yet to find an identitity that separates it from the hordes of mecha shows out there, the third episode showed hints of this, with Inaho analyzing and outsmarting the enemy instead of simpy beating it via Super Prototype, but at this point I'm not completely in love with the show.
Also I'm not exactly sure what are they trying to do with Inaho's stoicism, I just hope it goes somewhere soon.
Sailor Moon Crystal:
I have virtually no experience with the franchise, but from the first two eps I can say I appreciate all the conventions it set for the magical girl genre, and I can't stand Usagi's voice.
The style is interesting, but the animation has constant problems and the CGI transformations don't look very good either.
Glasslip:
It's an anime about... the crunchyroll thumbnail had a girl doing sciency stuff... so science I guess? Romantic comedy? Maybe?
I haven't actually checked it, this is just a reminder to myself to do so.
Love Stage!!:
Izumi Sena is the youngest son of a family dedicated to the entertainment business, however after being forced to dres up as a girl and act for an ad 10 years ago he was mentally scarred and has decided to pursue his own path in life, that of a mangaka, only problem being that he is a terrible artist, a fact he seems oblivious to.
His relatively calm life gets upside down when the same magazine asks him to act again for their 10th anniversary, something that his family won't allow him to escape from, as if that wasn't enough his co-star is still in love with "her" and has no intention of wasting any time.
Let's get the obvious out first, yes this involves crosdressing, and yes it is boys love, but the amazing humor and incredible sillyness aren't dependant on that fact, the show is a riot from start to end, yet it never feels too over the top, it's a really fun ride, and one people shouldn't miss out just for fear of the different.
Persona 4 The Golden The Animation:
Persona 4 is a RPG, Persona 4 The Animation is the adaptation of said game, Persona 4 Golden is the enhanced remake of said game, Persona 4 The Golden The Animation is the adaptation of the remake of the game.
Let that sink for a moment.
For all uses Golden The Animation feels like an unnecessary show, and in a way it is, but the show is aware of it, this is a New Game Plus, it has no intention of telling the story again, it simply has hilarious scenes and counts the story of the new character Marie.
If you enjoyed the game or the previous anime this will give you good laughs, if not, don't even bother.
Akame Ga Kill:
Tatsumi is a young boy on a quest to bring money to his village.
... sadly he end up being robbed, taken by psychos and faces a group of amoral assasins all in the same day, for better or worse said group of assasins (Night Raid) will become a part of his daily life, and nothing will ever be the same.
I enjoyed the few chapters of the manga I've read, and the anime does a pretty good job of adapting em, the cast is funny and interesting, the action is gory but solid and while the antagonists so far feel very unidimensional the world they've set up does leave room for more interesting ones down the road.
My only gripe is the clash of animation styles, the regular style clashes with the comedic or more dramatic ones.
