Is that supposed to be a reference to Kamiumi? Specifically the Land of Yomi.

The story has something called Yomotsu Hegui, which is more or less used in reference to those eating the food of Yomi (land of the dead) causes you to become stuck there.

Also, there's a part in the story that involves the throwing of a headdress that turns into grapes. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of parallels if this is what I think it is.
