Top wo nerae! Gunbuster: Noriko Takaya has one dream, reach space, however her shortcomings as a pilot are keeping her away from it, however, with the arrival of Coach Ohta, she finally dives in into space, war with the Space Monsters and the mysterious Gunbuster.

Gunbuster is a 6 episode OVA by Studio Gainax helmed by Hideaki Anno, and it shows, in it you can see the foundation of hotblood present in Gurren Lagann, and the character focus Evangelion aimed for.

It's an odd product, the general structure plays out as a sports movie, specially in the first episodes, with the udnerdog finally getting a chance to shine, however it's also a show that is really into it's science, the mechanics of lightspeed travel are a huge part of the show, and then you have the Gunbuster which doesn't seem to want to follow any logic.

As a whole it's an entertaining package, and at 6 episode, not only is it short but also memorable, some elements feel a bit shallow (the supporting cast is barely developed, and heck if I know what the heck a Space monster is) but the combiantion works, Gunbusters is very entertaining and a solid reccomendation.
