The movie takes place inbetween the fourth and fifth games, making it the second thing in the Layton timeline, and thanks to this crossover puts it in 2016, the same year as the first Ace attorney game.

Well i am well into chapter 9, i'm at the last trial and facing the final "boss"

I'm looking forward to seeing the finale of the game.
