Could Gaim be so good that even if Kamen Rider Drive is better no one would appreciate it because Gaim came before?

It's only natural that we compare Drive to Gaim and other KR series' of the past. It's how humans are. But could that ruin Drive's chances at ever being truly good? Or can you disassociate Gaim from Drive and appreciate Drive standing alone? It's a question that's been bothering me for a few days now.
