Far from it. VR created a shared plot from the footage, but there's a significant age gap in the various footage used so the transitions are far from seamless. The Spileban footage worked out okay for Kaitlin and JB as they just used as much footage of Spielban & Diana Lady together as they could for it. But I'm really really surprised they were able to stretch what was there across two seasons. But there was definitely reuse.

The thing about Metalder though was that it was just so damn short. They only had so much to use before they had to write something else in, hence the Shaider footage for season 2. But there's a stark contrast between the Shaider footage from 1984, the Spielban footage from 1987, and the original VR footage made in 1994.

Give the show a watch some time if for nothing else than to see the zany way 3 programs were spliced together ala the Robotech formula.
