Love Live! School Idol Project (Season1): After finding out that her school is about to close Kousaka Honoka comes up with a plan to save it, make a school idol group to gather interest and get new students.
Of course that plan is batsh#t crazy and as such getting it into motion and supported will be harder than she expected.

Love Live is first and foremost a way to promote all the singles, concert and various merchandise regarding the idol group, but that's not a problem by itself, and Love Live is surprisingly more substantial than just a group of schoolgirls being all moe and stuff.
I mean, yeah they'll be moe, and heck everybody is blushing all the time, but that's unavoidable.

Love Live main gripping point for me is the struggle required to make the idol group work, they don't simply jump into a stage and become popular, they have to exercise, compose and practice a lot, in a way it reminds of sports film, fitting given the degree of physical intensity required for such a job.
In fact I find the practice way more interesting than the actual choreographies, the awkward mix of traditional animation and CG models has never been my thing.
The songs are catchy enough, though I kind of prefer the ones that don't show up in the anime, Wonderful Rush is neato~

The characters are enjoyable, they mostly follow basic archetypes, but rarely fall into the zone of annoyment, honestly, chances are you'll really like at least one character.

And as seems to be the rule with these kind of shows, everything goes dramatic at the end in an attempt to draw emotions from the viewer... *sigh*
It's not terrible, Honoka blaming herself after being sick makes sense, and Kotori's wish to study fashion abroad is consistent with her character, but I still do not get why shows that aim to present a lighthearted and sweet world, love to go all bitter and melancholic towards the end, it just makes me scratch my head.

As a whole Love Live is apretty easy show to watch, and that's the main thing that comes to mind, it's not heavy or overbearing, but has enough of a story to be gripping, it's a decent way to pass the time.
