Chapter 2: Betrayal
The Toa were shocked at what they had just heard. Norik, the leader of the Toa Hagah team assigned to Makuta Teridax, had discovered that the Makuta had stolen the Mask of Light. Norik planned to lead his team into the Makuta’s main fortress on Destral and steal the mask and the Makoki Stone. It was the job of the other teams to keep the other Makuta distracted. “What the? How could the Makuta do this?” said Whakaito, a Toa of Ice. “Well, they are the Masters of Shadow,” Teuria, a Toa of Lightning, replied. Before they could finish, an dozen Dark Hunters burst into the room, lead by Makuta Antroz.
“You can all surrender and make this as easy as possible, or you can torn apart piece by piece,” said Antroz. “We’ll take our chances,” retorted Ragorus. The Toa of Magnetism suddenly grabbed his spear and threw it at a Dark Hunter, impaling him. “RUN!” shouted Tewai. The Toa took off running, with Antroz and the Dark Hunters in hot pursuit.
Whakaito and Tauna stopped, turned around, and started firing blasts of fire and ice at the Dark Hunter. “What are you doing?!” yelled Ragorus. “Just go! We’ll hold them off,” answered Tauna. Ragorus had no choice but to lead the rest of his team out of the stronghold. He stopped just in time to see both Whakaito and Tauna get decapitated by a Dark Hunter. Ragorus retaliated by using his control of magnetism to rip the Dark Hunter in half. “Ragorus, come on!” shouted Tewai.
The remaining Toa were soon stopped by a second group of Dark Hunters. Teuria and Tewai combined their powers of lightning and plasma to wipe out that group. Tewai turned to Ragorus and Shverhe and told them to run. Seconds after saying that, a blast of shadow energy struck the Toa of Plasma, killing him. The remaining two Toa took off, not turning back to see Teuria being struck down by a Dark Hunter.
As soon as they were away from the stronghold, Ragorus stopped to catch his breath. Suddenly, he felt himself being crushed as the gravity increased around him. “Shverhe, what are you doing?!” he said in a choked voice. “Who do you think told Teridax where the Mask of Light was located?” replied Shverhe. The traitor lifted Ragorus into the air as a group of Dark Hunters walked up behind him. Ragorus watched in terror as a former Toa of Ice began forming an ice prison around him. Everything went black.
