.....no one would watch it because it deviates from the typical Ranger/Sentai formula.

I'd introduce all 5 main characters in the first episode but only give the 1st one their powers. The next one would focus on them learning how to deal with gaining them. Then I'd give the other 4 their powers individually by every other odd numbered episode & the even numbered episodes will end in them either accepting their gifts or finding a way to get rid of them, depending on the character. That way we get 2 episodes for each person, learning about them in the process like the 1st Ranger.

The following 10 episodes would have them conflict with each other on what it means to be a Ranger, finally choosing to all come together in the last 2 episodes to face the threat. The hook for the 2nd half of the season would be about the threat getting even more dangerous.

So they'll need some extra help in the form of their Zords, which they work on finding/making/training on how to use them. By episode 30 they have their first combination into the Megazord, showing their growth as team.

The episode ends with the threat revealing their secret weapon: their own personal Ranger, complete with their own Megazord. Episodes 31-33 is about the 5 trying to deal with the 6th. Should they beat them, recruit them, all the typical questions. Here we learn about the 6th Ranger & their story & character. Episode 33 ends with 6th joining the main team. Episodes 34-38 will have the 6th Ranger's relationships to the main 5 established; one's a friend, one's a love interest, one's a rival, etc. Finally, 39 & 40 have the team of 6 in the final battle with the threat; ending in the 2 Megazords combining together to vanquish the enemy once & for all in Episode 40.

That's how I would do it.
