Yeah, that can be annoying. But people are more likely to buy something if they see it being used in something they like. That's why there's so many things that don't make sense in shows like Fourze & Gaim to make sense. Wizard can defeat his enemies by distracting them with Smell.....only once or twice though. they did it with double, i mean they released more gaia memories but they didnt cram them in the story, that's a good way of telling a story and not cramming merch all over it.

bandai can still make money without cramming merch into the story, it was successful with double like i said. it makes no difference anyway because it gets used once in the story and never gets used again and they still are making money.
