The reason we decided the Iron Man stuff goes in the non-toku thread is because for all intensive purposes
on this website
, the "toku" part refers to shows such as Sentai, Rider etc. Iron Man is an American comic book property so doesn't fall under that banner despite the films being classed as tokusatsu by definition. The line has to be drawn somewhere or otherwise almost
anything
would be applicable to the tokusatsu threads.
That is true, I apologize if I made a thread like this, and I didn't know which section to put this discussion. I wanted people's thought on non-Japanese shows that show Tokusatsu-style SFX like the 2 shows from Hong Kong using toku-style SFX, the same for the 2 K-dramas that have toku-style SFX, I wanted to know if these should be classified as Toku because if a non-Japanese shows/films can have toku-style SFX and can still be classified as toku, then can these shows I mention above be considered toku in the sense of Special effect, and probably unique plot that will remind people of Japanese tokusatsu shows.
Again, the point of the thread was not to cause argument or debate, but to see if the definition of toku can no longer be unblurred because other countries are making show that are not similar to Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman but use SFX and unique plot that seem to outshine Japanese one (no insult to the Japanese, they're very good with impressing people like me).
