The Mako is awesome to drive through, I enjoy that.

Pistol is the only weapon you really need. Seriously. The biotic classes are hilariously game-breaking with even a half-assed build. And it's nice to see someone else who loves the Mako; the Hammerhead from the Firewalker/Overlord DLC in 2 is just in no way a worthy successor.

But yeah, it was more the story, universe, and characters that got Mass Effect its fanbase than the gameplay.
