It does fit the aesthetic.

Fits it more than, say, the V-crest on RX-78. The moustache is still curved and sweeping, like the lines and angles on Turn A. There's virtually innumerable blocky Gundams randomly sporting sharp V-crests directly against their aesthetic.

In fact, you still haven't answered me: why is the moustache bad, but not the forehead crests? It's literally the exact same deal, just below the eyes.
