With the line that Kendall said where she had Keeper help her track down Chase and then they "found Koda", Koda has only recently been "unthawed" (maybe a couple months) to see the modern world. Which is why he doesn't understand all modern things.

Chase: 100,000 years passed and Kendall and I discovered the new Blue Ranager: a caveman named Koda. And all though his combat skills are great, he has a lot to learn about the modern world before he's ready to save anyone.

But I believe Koda will save the world! *AtLA theme music plays*
