Gone Baby Gone
I´m usually a big fan of Ben Affleck directed movies. I like The Town and absolutely loved Argo but Gone Baby Gone is by far the one that interested me the least. Its not a bad movie by any means but it also isnt one of the best Affleck has directed. The story was pretty interesting but became pretty predictable later on and I dont know if I like where they went with it. The biggest problem of the movie though is by far Casey Affleck. I dont mind the guy but he isnt the best actor out there and I dont think he was especially right for the part. He really struggles to show emotions or be intimidating. He mostly has one expression throughout the movie and it hurts the movie alot when your main actor cant believably convey in what state of mind he is.
The supporting characters are what makes this movie work though. Ed Harris gives one hell of a performance, Morgan Freeman is great with the very few things he is given in the movie and even Titus Welliver who doesnt do alot in the film really knocks it out of the park when his big moment comes.
I enjoyed the movie overall but its definitely not one of those I will watch again any time soon.
The Breakfast Club
Saw this movie today for the first time in my life and it is a really great movie. The cast is incredibly likeable and even at their young age everyone acts extremely well and makes their character believable. I am absolutely amazed how well John Hughes understood the heart and soul of teenagers and what they are going through. Even if my time in high school happenes over a decade after the release of this movie I still recognized so many of myself in the characters. The problems they have to go through and how hard it is to find your place in this world.
There isnt really much I can say about this movie beyond that cause I think its best if everyone just watches this movie to enjoy it for themself.
Casino
Truly one of Scorseses best movies and while Taxi Driver will always be my absolute favorite of his Casino is a close second with Goodfellas. I felt absolutely captivated by this film. The story was absolutely thrilling and the three hour run time flew by like it was nothing. It was so interesting to see how this whole emprie just crumbled becuase of one mans pride who just didnt knew when to take a step back and admit defeat.
Every performance in this movie was superb. Robert Deniro gives everything he got as the lead character. Joe pesci and Sharon Stone are equally as great and fun to watch. Their dynamic was the meat of this film and I never felt bored watching them.
