I thought it was the other way around. Orci's announcement of leaving Power Rangers came earlier than his announcement of leaving Star Trek.
He left Power Rangers around September:

Orci was executive producer of Power Rangers, and it was speculated that he left that to make his directorial debut on Star Trek. That's understandable, as the directorial debut would be far more appealing as a career option. He did not exchange one production job for another, but a production job (where he might have less of a say) for a directorial job.
So in that case, it does not necessarily mean he left because of a lack of interest in Power Rangers.
