Kakuranger starts out pretty silly, but I think that adds to its charm. The social commentary is pretty interesting, so I recommend reading the TL notes for each episode -- they really shed light on some interesting context.

Once you get to the episodes where the main villains start being introduced, things get a bit more "serious." Young Prince Junior is an incredible bad guy.

My main criticism of the show is that it takes a while before the main heroes start getting developed, but once they do (in the early 20s), Kakuranger quickly proves it's one of the best sentai out there.
