I must not be conveying what I mean in text properly.

The biggest problem I'm having with this generation of gaming is that it is riding off the curtails of the last gen. Everything coming out for it has been sticking to the same safe zone that companies got comfortable in in the last generation. There are new IPs, but they are playing exactly the same as the old games. Bloodlborne is just Demon's Souls, but with guns. Watch_Dogs is just a modern day Assassin's Creed (but with an even worse protagonist and PS3 graphics). Destiny is Halo, but online. None of those are ground breaking.

We need something new. A new gaming experience that is not only graphically amazing, but sets the bar to a new type of gameplay. It needs to be innovative and revolutionary. It could very well come from an existing IP if companies start taking risks with their existing IPs and do new stuff with them (like Rockstar tries to do with each incarnation of GTA), but most likely, it is going to be from a new IP.

So far, Horizon is the only game that looks like it is trying to be that new thing, which is why for me, it was the game of E3.
