Just because there's no sexual attraction doesn't man that there has to be a lack of romance. And Just so you know, I'm not trying to argue anything you say, just putting my thoughts/opinion out there. You can be romantic and in love and it not be sexual. Just look at Garnet (Sapphire and Ruby). They are in love, but no sexual attraction. So...I just lost my train of thought on this... >__>


Oh yeah!! So maybe the sexual undertones are just their ways of conveying trust? I mean, if you are going to merge yourself with someone you really have to trust them. Or have some form of ulterior motive, like Lapis Lazuli did with Jasper.

See, that's the sociological concept of asexuality, what I was referring to was the biological concept that is limited to the nature of reproduction. Gems don't reproduce like humans, Rose even needed to create a false uterus and cease to physically exist in order to bring the anomaly known as Steven into being. Steven, by all accounts, should not exist. His nature challenges what the Gems know to be true. Gems never needed to reproduce sexually like humans or similar creatures would, yet Steven exists from a Gem doing just that. Fusing is an ability exclusive to the Gem physiology, yet Steven with his dual nature fused with Connie, a being that should not be able to fuse as Gems do. And this is because of one Gem that defied not only her society's mission but her own physiology. Gems have no inherent use for biological sexuality and participation in biological sexuality caused one to cease existing and brought about a creature that should not exist.

And that last part is really interesting. To the rest of Gem society, Steven is an abomination created by a war criminal and a heretic, who aligns himself with that heretic war criminal's band of rejects.
