The problem is he had no range of emotion. Or perhaps it was his actor that was the problem, but the man was so dead pan in his facial expressions. Kotaro in Black might not have had the deepest amount of development, but at least his actor showed he had fun with the character. Even in his darkest moments on screen his actor could pull off a momentary grin or something to show that the actor was enjoying himself. Haruto's actor, on the other hand just seemed like he was there because he had to be, not because he wanted to be.
