Lots of reasons. First it wouldn't be a basic cable station, meaning your audience would already be much smaller since you'd only be reaching viewers with whatever "Advanced" package their provider offers. By being a non standard channel, your viewer base would probably be less than 100,000, which isn't a lot. Second is that you'd have to have more than just a few shows to air. While they could easily dig up some older PR shows to put up, they'd have to have a much larger variety or else the channel would bomb in days. Making contracts to air syndicated shows (Or even create multiple entirely new series just for the channel) is pretty expensive, especially if you already know you have to wait multiple months just to see profits.
Put all of that together, and you're basically trying to score a hole in one from a putt off the moon. A lot of non standard channels are just offshoots of already successful channels as is (Disney, Nick, HBO, etc), so they have the money to make up for dips when the channel doesn't perform. But for a company like Saban? Making a channel is just asking for failure.



I don't think it would've changed much, honestly. The only real difference is that we wouldn't have gotten MMPR 2, basically...
