You didn't miss anything, because there isn't any thing to miss. In the Drive episode the Newton Eyecon was just...there. The plotline in Drive with Newton took place over a month, we never got a good explanation of where it came from. Now Takeru's only been Ghost for 11 days and apparently that all took place off-screen.

Let's not even talk about the fact that he already used Newton in Surprise Future.

It's bullshit, is all it is.
