This, pretty much. We can't have a mind-blowing over the top amazing show every year, but Ninninger does a pretty job to at least entertain me. They do some pretty interesting plots with Kinji (who has really grown on me) and Tsumuji and the rest... hey, what awesome, deep, thick plot did you expect from a show that is based off of the idea that everyone wants to be the very best (like no one ever was dun-dun-duuun)? Plots like that are mostly more episodic and light-hearted, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, you know.
