Bite me. Alphamon is a big fucking deal. You don't just "Use" Alphamon. You don't just throw Alphamon into a story like he was Myotismon. There better be a really good fucking reason for why he's here.

Second is that I don't like this new girl. The next movie/episode set/whatever better flesh her out. Her character archetype isn't anything new (I know this is Digimon we're talking about, but it's also 2015. Cliched characters in a 90's shonen I'll forgive, but not these days) and she's just a total bore. Her Digimon is interesting, but I'm not a fan of the cross eyes thing it's going for. Whatever.

The story is okay. What more can I ask for, considering that they're working with a story that was pretty much bookended with it's fucking sequel series? I do enjoy the massive retcons they're performing to 02. Like Digimon being common knowledge to the public, or that Imperialdramon is leagues stronger than Omegamon (Thank you, Digimon Adventure tri, for correcting that load of bullshit), so cool. Also, while I may like changing what 02 established, it's still maddening because I feel it's not necessary to change.
I can safely say I'm curious over how things will advance, at the very least, since Alphamon basically ran a train on our cast.

Why do I like Mimi more than half the cast? That shouldn't be happening. Stop that. Also, I'm interested in where Jo's story is gonna go, since the pressure of school is on his shoulders more than ever.
Taichi blue screening because of wanton destruction is stupid. I know that you can't pull the "Needs of the many" thing when people are feeling emotional, but goddammit, it was unnecessary. He knows there's only 12 people (Technically more thanks to 02, but they retconned that out, too, most likely) on the planet who can combat the threats (Despite them forgetting about 4 of them), but he still cries that people could get hurt from the fights. It seemed like a pointless addition solely to create a tension between him and Yamato just to emulate the original series.
The rest of the cast were par for the course. Basically exactly what I expected from high school versions of them. That's nice. The Digimon never change, which I'm thankful for.
Question, though. Why did no one outside of Agumon and Gabumon advance to Perfect/Ultimate? I thought there was something restricting them, but when those two did it, it just made this a large issue. The most noticeable case being Gatomon/Tailmon, who never evolved. What, saving Angemon with big boobies for the sequel?

I'm glad they splashed in bits of humor, which gave the series a sense of spirit reminiscent of Adventure. Though it wasn't anything too special, it added some life that it desperately needed.

Overall, I didn't hate it as much as I expected it to, but it also wasn't anything too special to me. I guess my animosity for Adventure has grown too much over recent years, but I still can at least say it wasn't bad. I'm thinking of trying to make a gif of Alphamon whooping Birdramon and Kabuterimon, too.

I recall that in Zero 2, Gennai gave all the old guard some sort of power up that let them reach Ultimate, but then most of them, save Gabumon and Agumon, gave it up to Imperialdramon to unfreeze him from SkullSatanmon's attack and let it digivolve to Fighter mode.

Or in short, because they're the main two, and Digimon is known for that bullshit.
