OK yeah, I get what you meant now. The Leopard is definitely influenced by the Heavyarms. And the Airmaster by the Wing. And the Virsago by the Epyon.

Watch 00, X, the 0079 movie trilogy, and War in the Pocket. 00, X, and WitP are some of the best Gundam series ever (although someone's sure to disagree with me on that), and 0079, while very poorly animated (it was the 70s, all anime looked like shit back then), has a solid story that the movie trilogy did a great job of summing up. And it's the first Gundam series ever, so it's worth watching simply to see how far Gundam's come.
