People's reactions can be complex. The list of what I like about (what we've seen of) Jyuuouh-King is short, but it includes, "Well, it's certainly
different
." I appreciate that they're trying something radically different, even though I'm a little horrified by the result.
I'm curious about how the pixel-art aesthetic is going to translate to the show. I actually wouldn't be surprised if we see some pixel animation in the opening sequence.
Someone in this thread observed that they seem to be aiming for an even younger audience, and I fear they might be right. Rider certainly seems to be doing the same thing. I know I'd be happiest if Sentai would skew toward a slightly older audience.
(In fairness, I liked Shurikenjin quite a bit, and the WTF element of the design just added to my enjoyment.)
As an aside, I'd assumed that the sword/spike thing runs through all three blocks, but looking at it again (now that it appears the sword is removable), it now seems it only runs through the red 1 cube. That would suggest that, yeah, the rest of the mecha doesn't transform outside the stacking of the blocks. I would love to be proven wrong.
