Oh Cloverfield. Just when I thought I couldn't be disappointed in a kaiju more than Godzilla 1998, you happened.
As a disaster film, it was lame because all the footage was first person shaky cam, so the scale of destruction never really hit since seeing it from the eyes of some annoying fucker's camera just never felt large. As a kaiju, you were not interesting in the slightest in design, basically requiring the little baby things it dropped to antagonize the cast with their ambiguous abilities (One chick's head exploded just by being scratched? The fuck?). As a movie, it was just a large bore since it was just some annoying guy's face in the camera going "I'm so startled you guys" when it's not poorly angled shots of the camera shaking while running.

Basically, I'm not hyped up for this film. It seems they ditched the Blair Witch style of filming for a more normal method, which is nice, though.
