The dub was very well, probably the best Funimation dub for a comedy show that I have seen in a while. I wish the show was longer and there is no sign of a second season anytime soon. I already miss the characters =(. Had this show been longer, I would give it a A+. If you like comedy or into shows with demons then give this show a watch. I highly recommended it. Grade: A
I really enjoyed this show for the first couple of episodes where it felt like he was trying to fit in and not be discovered. Once it turned into huge battles against people from his world coming to kill him, I started to lose interest.
Anyways, I've been in the mood for some Godzilla lately, and since Netflix took all of their Godzilla flicks down, I decided to go back to Amazon Prime and see what they had. Nothing good for Godzilla, but they did have Pokemon Origins and RahXephon, two shows I've been meaning to watch for a while. Now, I'm hoping you all know what not to read if you're trying to avoid spoilers, but just in case, my thoughts are going to include some small spoilers.
Pokemon Origins was pretty cool. Lots of it played out just like the games, such as buying the Magikarp for 500, getting the rods, and even some direct quotes from the game, and that was all pretty cool. The four episodes were all enjoyable in their own right, but it just went by so fast and skipped so much that I can't help but feel disappointed. The only things it did show were stuff that built up to the final battle and the mega evolution of charizard, to the point where it felt like the entire series was just a commercial for mega evolutions.
As for RahXephon, I've always wanted to check it out because I've heard it's similar to my favorite anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion. However, it seems like the creators were basically saying "Hey, let's make our own version of Evangelion!" That doesn't make it unenjoyable, but I was basically playing a game of "spot the Eva similarities" with my girlfriend while watching it. I'm only about 6 episodes in, but already I've noticed tons. From the main character staying with a purple-haired girl that's slightly older and introduced him to everything that's going on and a red-haired girl that's his age but doesn't get along with, his desire to not pilot the robot, the mysterious and socially awkward girl, dickhead boss, all the way to the mech that seems like it probably isn't actually a mech. Ignoring the eva similarities, I'm definitely enjoying it so far. The first couple of episodes were a bit confusing, but now it's starting to make a bit more sense. Definitely looking forward to watching more.
Elfen Lied, which is also on Amazon Prime, is probably up next after I finish RahXephon. I generally prefer to watch stuff on streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime, since my computer isn't that great and takes too long to load.
Which brings me to a question. Are there any streaming services that I can download to my PS4 that have a dubbed version of Yu-Gi-Oh GX? It's on CrunchyRoll for streaming, but is only subbed. This may sound strange coming from somebody who watches toku, but I prefer dubbed anime to subbed anime. I guess if I can't find anywhere else to watch it, I can make do with the subs, but definitely would prefer dubbed.
