I think they could get away with just friction slots to hold the Chargers. More likely it's a size problem. Allowing all the remaining Chargers to be stored in Titano's back would've left it too big and/or deep to be in scale with the other figures.

Anyhow, all speculation at this point until we get a better view of the figure. I'm just not getting my hopes up.
