Man, this show has awesome background music. I'm not sure if there were some new tracks from the score here or if I hadn't noticed them before, but this may be the best incidental music we've had since Wizard.

The voice on Necrom's transformation device is sexy as hell. Really gives me a strong Faiz vibe. Actually, I'm really liking Necrom overall, for the most part. He looks really cool and he's coming off as a big, legitimate threat. I just hope he doesn't turn into another Machine Chaser, with each appearance making him less threatening until all he does is fill time to pad out the episodes with more action scenes.

And on to the negatives:

Necrom looks cool, but dear lord, is that wrist device terrible. It sounds cool, but it's laughably huge and silly-looking. Not as obviously toyetic as Spectre's big Nerf gun, but it's still really bad. I'm also having a hard time not seeing Necrom's default mask as a swim mask - it's very distracting.

Onari has somehow found a way to be even less subtle in his overacting. We're getting close to him going full-on Shatner.

The Ganma thugs aren't terribly threatening when all they do is interpretively dance around the Riders. Did not feel any threat or tension in that big fight near the beginning.

Moping on stairs is Takeru's version of Wataru's bathtub.

My biggest problem with this episode was that it went out of its way to be intentionally vague about the Ganma and Makoto's history with them. There were a good four to five times where it came up and was immediately interrupted by another character or a scene transition. The show is very obviously dragging these plot revelations out at this point and I find it very frustrating.

I don't know how many of you have seen The Legend of Korra, but in the first episode there's a scene where one of the characters meets up with Katara, one of the surviving characters from The Last Airbender. She starts to ask Katara a question about that show's biggest dangling plot thread, but before Katara can answer, another character runs in and starts babbling about something unrelated and interrupting the story. It was a joke: the writers were clearly just having some fun trolling the fans. Ghost is doing this seriously. Every time Makoto's history with Aran comes up it's either interrupted, brushed aside, or addressed in greater length off-screen. It's not funny in this case, though; all it's doing is kicking the answers down the road to a future episode instead of spending five damn minutes explaining everything here and now.

This is honestly the biggest reason why I can't connect with Makoto - the show isn't allowing us to really get to know him because it wants to draw out this mystery of his backstory. If it was handled better then maybe I could appreciate the slow build, but all they're doing is either teasing us or just being vague and it irks me to no end.

Also, Akari is a surprisingly violent research scientist.

I think Necrom might be mix of Ouja and Duke

Necrom and Ouja are darkest rider but like Duke, Necrom will fight when Ghost and Specter get too powerful
