Earlier in the season what you're saying was pretty much exactly my opinion on him too. Because you're right that he is not useless and he does on occasion show a more nuanced side.

The longer the show goes on though, these facts only serve to make things worse for me. Because I feel like I'd really like Onari if he would just shut up and calm down a little. We've seen that he can kind of be better, so the fact that disproportionately we're being subjected to the buffoon makes it all even worse. It's frustrating, I think maybe even more than it would be if he was an idiot around the clock.

A bigger issue is maybe, the actor just isn't very good. There are ways to play humorous characters right, but this guy is simply too over the top. There's a lot riding on the delivery, and hid has just lost all charm to me by this point.
