Shipping cost revisions, as I said, are not unheard of. Items can be just a shade too large or too heavy to qualify for the quoted rate. It could even be a back-end issue where the wrong data is sitting in the database. In the end, it may have been in the best interest to eat that cost from a customer service standpoint, but it isn't
illegal
for them to ask for the fees required for shipping.
It's also crazy to assume every unpopular decision a company makes is the direct result of malfeasance. It makes precisely zero sense to assume that a business is deliberately seeking to drive their customers away. It reeks more of having an agenda than a legitimate belief. I, personally, am not doing business with N-Y anymore because I don't like some of their policies. But I don't, in any way, think they are out
to get me
.
I agree with you for the most part, and if this was just some transaction between two people on a forum, I wouldn't really mind paying to cover the shipping charges if necessary. Even 3100 yen isn't too much money in the grand scale of things, but its more a matter of principal, and perhaps legality. I'm pretty sure when you pay someone the price stated on a website, you enter a legally binding contract, at least you do in the US. A shipping revision is probably something that should be done in good conscience not something you can legally force someone to pay.
