And now I see that AmiAmi has pre-orders open for Takara's Computron as well. Man, I really don't know which to pick here. There are things I like and don't like about both.
Takara:
Scattershot - Unquestionable better to me, from deco to mold changes (especially those for combined mode), just all around looking great.
Nosecone - I have no problems with the Rook mold, plus the changes here are pretty cool. Nice colors too.
Strafe - This is a damn good remold of Blast Off.
Headsculpts - All new ones. No telling what Hasbro will do just yet, but given past releases I'm honestly expecting not all of them to have a unique one.
Hasbro:
Afterburner - I much prefer this one just because it's not so overwhelmingly red. I don't even understand why Takara did that when they've been (
way too
) slavishly show accurate and a complete red Afterburner is far from that. Plus it just adds too much to Computron. So Hasbro's I like just for balance sake.
Lightspeed - The Breakdown mold is my absolute least favorite of the combiner limbs, so Hasbro not using it here even if it might look a little better is totally fine with me. The mold they did use is rather overused though and I'm not crazy about having yet another one of it...
Nosecone - I also think he works fine as a Brawl remold. Both are drill tanks in the end and I don't have much of a preference.
Strafe - Would like to see it more, but it looks like it'll at least do the job.
Scrounge - It may be ridiculous, but I do love the novelty of it. Would love to have him.
Hands & Feet - Consistency with the other combiners be damned, having dedicated hands and feet that look to functional well is a huge plus.
Hopefully we'll be seeing pictures of theirs in person at BotCon soon, as well as a release window and price from Hasbro. That will help. In my honest opinion it's a little foolish to go buy both and just mix and match, and for me would be very fiscally irresponsible. But I'd like one at least heh.
