There's a difference though. Comic books are just random stories that only sometimes connect into a larger plot. Manga is ALWAYS a continuous plot. Comic books have also been going on for 75 years with a constant amount of reboots and rewriting going on with the characters. There is no set version of some of the characters. Manga is usually a single stand alone story that goes from start to finish in a certain amount of time.
For example, it's not like Dragon Ball has been rebooted 6 times and has been going on for 50 years. It was a set number of volumes on a set storyline that had a beginning, middle, and end. That was it.
However, I want the writers of the adaptation to make sure they at least get the characters right. Superman is supposed to be bright, colorful and hopeful. Flash is kind of th same way. Jonah Hex is a former confederate soldier whose tone changes based on the story, but he still has rules.
Movies that don't follow the rules are wrong.
However, if you do an adaptation of say The Killing Joke, it better damn well be accurate. If they do an adaptation of Flashpoint, it better damn well be accurate.
