I don't think the Blue Destiny story is that long, so maybe an OVA or two by the team behind Thunderbolt would be cool.

Oh yes. Thunderbolt has been excellent so I'd love to see Blue Destiny given the love it deserves. I wish more side stories like it could be focused on for animation. Off the top of my head I'd love to see:

Blue Destiny
0079 Rise From The Ashes
Crossbone
Gundam F90
Ecole du Ciel
MSV-R

And that's just to name the big ones that come to mind for me.
