UltraMan: Wow, I can't believe I finished all of the original series so far. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this because I saw the first episode of UltraSeven a long time ago and wasn't really grabbed by it from it. This, this was after a lot of other series I've watched and figured for the anniversary I'll watch it. Well that I bought a body suit to cosplay UltraMan obviously means I enjoyed the freaking hell out of it. I can totally see why this started an amazing franchise. Now obviously being in the sixties it was very episodic in nature however that each monster of the week came from a different place whether it was outer space, underground, evolved plant, or just some overgrown monster it helped make each episode unique and make each way the conquer the threat engaging to find out how they would. The final episodes were leagues better than some of the series but this show had a lot of average episodes and then out of nowhere you'll get these fantastic episodes that remind you why you love this show. Hayata, the host of UltraMan was an excellent character, he was strong, intelligent, good at handling difficult situations, and selfless. He didn't have as much focus as normal main characters do but his actions spoke louder than his words and he did stand out when he did have focus, I mean I spent a lot of money and time to build a cosplay of him, that means I love the hell out of the character lol. The UltraMan didn't actually talk much except for the beginning and end and some episodes here and there but I enjoyed him and the lessons he learned from Earth He was very caring, protective, and kind; he felt bad for what he did to Hayata and wanted to make sure Hayata didn't die at the end and was willing to stay on Earth to keep him alive or sacrifice his own life to do the same. So very altruistic alien here. The Science Patrol was a very entertaining team like most of the teams in UltraMan are. The Captain, Toshio Muramatsu, was played by the same guy who plays Tachibana in Kamen Rider so it was nice to see him again, playing a crazy captain who gave some questionable orders at times or crazy ideas but he did succeed when he needed to. Akiko felt like the heart of the team and that things wouldn't get done without her. She didn't do much at times but I still enjoyed her even if she didn't get the best treatment. Hoshino was annoying in the beginning because of all the focus he got, then got better with helping the Science Patrol, and then completely disappeared from the show all together lol. Arashi was the big guy of the group, he was brash and always liked to fight. He was confident in his skills and loved the Spider Gun he had. He was the guy who would do the things when he shouldn't do the thing and provoked monsters a lot but he was fun and interesting. Ide, god Ide got the most character focus at times because it's either something he needs to build or something he did but man he did develop more. Like I just thought he was the comic relief of the group but he turned out to be a scientist who built weapons for them. He also was the one that worried that they were useless because UltraMan was defeating the enemies too which I enjoyed about him that someone cared about that. Though Hayata talked him out of it and that UltraMan needed the Science Patrol as much as they needed him and in the finale they really showed that. UltraMan Zoffy was interesting for his small appearance but I was happy with him and his helping both Hayata and UltraMan. This had lots of fun moments, dark moments, sad moments, and awesome moments; there was so much in this show that they packed into 39 Episodes. UltraMan know how to do well with not as long runs as some other series. Overall this was an amazing science fiction fantasy show with great action, stories, and characters. It was a great series to watch for it's 50th Anniversary.
