Well, there is a bit of a difference with availability, too.
With physical stores, you were limited to how many copies the store decided to purchase.
They could purchase as many copies of popular movies as they saw fit, while less popular or poorly received movies would be sitting with only one or two copies on the shelves for rent.
With streaming, there's an infinite number available at all times, and they have to pay equal prices for both.
If they started a deal to get the 7 Saw films, but numbers show that only the first two were getting a decent amount of views, why continue to pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars to host the other 5 that no one are watching?
It's just a theoretical scenario, but that's basically the gist of it.
