That's not the point though. Alain didn't start feeling crappy because he couldn't kill a Ganmazier permanently, he started feeling crappy because he was sucking so hard the Ganmaizer didn't consider him even a minor threat and he was sucking so hard the other Riders had to protect him. If they actually wanted to show him experience tangible growth, they should have shown him hold his own against Wind and actually contribute towards stopping it, even if he wouldn't be the one to deal the finishing blow.

Instead he fought Javert, who he also didn't finish off permanently, and who is such a low level threat the other two Riders defeated him as far back as episodes 12 and 15. My point is it's a really bad way to imply next time he sees a Ganmaizer he won't be completely useless.
