The broken medal isn't shoehorned in. Eiji wanted to stop Ankh once he reverted back to his old ways, but he still felt remorse. You're treating it like an absolute, which is what OOO was trying to speak against.

There's a lot to OOO, and by opening with you seeing Eiji as a megalomaniac kind of cements that, unless you rewatch it, even explaining it to you won't help

I have to admit I never really saw Ankh and Eiji as friends. It seemed more like they were just using each other for their own ends most of the time, and although there were some poignant scenes with them they both did genuinely try to kill each on occasion (although I guess one could argue that they had both progressed past that, but there certainly weren't enough episodes devoted to it). I do understand what you are saying though and I'm sure that is what they were going for, even if it didn't go over well with me.

I should also specify that I actually rather enjoyed OOO before the whole PuToTyranno thing happened, but after that it really started to drag for me. I even liked Eiji back then!

I don't want to rewatch it anytime soon though so you're gonna have to wait on that!
