I have yet to start all the anime I'm watching this season (I'm gonna finish watching a playthrough of Ultra Despair Girls before watching the Danganronpas, which could take a while) but most of them have started. This season is looking...rather promising, actually.

orange is pretty alright so far. There's...something about the art style, it is a little unappealing, but in a rather appealing way...I'm not sure how I really feel about it or how to describe it. Overall, I'm definitely gonna need to see more of it, but I don't dislike it at all.

Arlsan Senki is Arslan Senki. It ain't bad. But I have to say, it's a bit of a trollish cop-out, the way things went. Season one ended making it seem like the story was within reach of the big climax and conclusion, and season 2 comes along with a "lol fuck no" and then the developments with Andragoras and now...shit, guess there's pirates now, alright. I mean, whatever (literally) floats their boat, but it really isn't what I was expecting. With only 6 episodes left, really not sure where they're going. I mean...I guess I also don't understand why they're doing an 8 episode season...it's a little confusing. But again, it ain't bad.

This Art Club Has a Problem! was entertaining enough going off the first episode. I think this will probably be the kind of series where at first I'm just mildly amused but may grow a little tired of eventually. The scenarios presented by the setting in episode one are rather limited. Hopefully this will not be the case. Most of the cast has yet to be introduced, so I'm hopeful. Not bad.

91 Days looks interesting, but after just one episode it's a bit hard to tell.

Amanchu was my favorite of the season for a little bit there. The first episode was very nice. It was funny, the art style is charming and the art shifts are appropriately humorous and I overall just really enjoyed it, and it looks very promising. Really glad I decided to watch this one.

Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! LOVE! I was a bit concerned about before I watched it. I loved the first season, but was afraid the second may not live up to it properly or something. My concerns were, however, unnecessary. The first episode was fun as hell and lived up to the memory of the first season perfectly. Considering the way season 1 ended, there's bound to be some really ridiculous shit going down to allow the events of this season to happen, and I'm really looking forward to finding out what.

Mob Psycho 100 is my favorite of the season so far by a large margin. The animation is beautiful, the art style is great, the humor is on point, the premise is promising and just...man, even just the first episode was probably as fun as the rest of the stuff I've seen this season put together (which says more about it than the rest of the season, because as I've established, I'm liking it). Seriously really great start. Hoping it stays strong.

And then there's...Mahou Shoujo Naria Girls. Gonna be honest, I wasn't necessarily expecting much from it. I'm only watching it in the first place because it shares some of the staff from Tesagure, which I adore. But it was an obviously experimental project from the start and much different in premise. So I wasn't expecting a lot, I was mostly curious. Even so...even so, the first episode was just kind of...embarrassing to watch. The animation, which is terrible when it's there and isn't there as much as you'd think, the conversations, which don't seem to have a real theme or purpose the majority of the time and feel stilted when they do, and the premise, which so far has not lent itself to anything interesting...this show is a mess. No other way to put it. I don't know what its point is or what they're trying to accomplish. It ain't good. The phrases during the transformations are pretty hilarious, the little aside from the monster in episode 2 is the kind of self referential humor I was expecting, but as a whole it's...really weird. Really bizarre. I guess it may get better, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will rise to the level of good. I guess we'll see.

Naria Girls is proving itself the weak link, but I was always kind of expecting that to be the case. And honestly, if the bad anime I watch this summer is restricted to this one 8 minute show, I'll consider that a pretty good deal.

In non-seasonal news, I finished Katanagatari last night. The last episode was kinda fucked, and it kinda left me feeling a little fucked. I don't know. I still don't think I know how to feel about it. It's a really good and rather unique anime, but I think I likely would have preferred it if its ending was a little more typical.
